The Moon This Week; it’s Signs and Phases - We start the week where we left of on Sunday 22nd, with the Moon in Waning Crescent phase and entering Balsamic invisibility. The Moon on Monday will be in Mutable Air Gemini until Wednesday. On Wednesday the Moon enters Cardinal Water Cancer and makes its New Moon Conjunction with the Sun and Jupiter. On Thursday the Moon enters Waxing Crescent phase as the energy begins to build again. This phase takes the energy into active planning, self-assurance and self-confidence. On Friday the Moon enters Fixed Fire Leo, and on Sunday enters Mutable Earth Virgo in the late morning.
Monday’s Chart sets the tone for our week of transits, and as we can see there is a lot going on in the midday chart.
During the nighttime and early morning hours, the Moon enters Gemini. Left and Right brained processes receive and transmit information internally; intuitively and subjectively, through a series of sextile’s with Saturn and Neptune, a trine with Pluto in Aquarius in the morning, and a square with Mars.
The Sun makes a square with Neptune. All this happens before 8:30am. Dreams may be helpful, while the squares bring a crisis in consciousness for the Moon and a crisis in action for the Sun.
Monday looks like a complex overlay of harmonious, collaborative and tension filled energies. There are three minor grand trines, a kite, and what looks like a winged boat effect, trying to form with another two minor grand trines that have not quite formed; but with the eye, the intention of them is a visible frequency in the chart.
A kite configuration forms with Black Moon Lilith in opposition to Uranus and the Moon. There are different viewpoints that are enabled to change and as the Moon passes over Uranus through the night into Monday, there is a subjective change that takes place at a deep and real level, as the Moon receives both Black Moon Lilith energies of a bigger perspective on the larger field of awareness and the Uranus radical transformative electricity and ideas that reach in, from outside of the box. The kite lifts these encounters into the realm of higher intuition.
Mercury in watery Cancer forms an out of sign grand trine with Black Moon Lilith in Sagittarius and Saturn in Aries, which feels like an incomplete harmony; in motion and not static. Mercury receives big picture knowledge and solid encouragement, and transmits emotional information between BML in Sagittarius and Saturn in Aries.
Mercury is in conversation with just about every other player on the board today, mostly by trine and sextile in a socially vibrant sharing of information. The square to Chiron shows us that these conversations are connected to a healing of personal confidence in one’s knowledge, and in speaking and sharing information, especially within the context of home and family, and social networks that feel close.
The predominance of trines and sextile’s gives Monday a feeling of everything flowing and moving together, in a harmony of collaborative effort, but not without some growthful tension. It’s a dynamic day.
Mars resonates with the Sun Jupiter conjunction in Cancer by sextile as a two way transfer of information and feeling that is helpful to Mars, and back again. The collaboration could fill Mars with an understanding of emotionally sensitive but spotlighted knowledge, which is ripe for integration, as an ongoing endeavour in his pursuit of truth, in Virgo. To see ones self, as well as our world of experience, in the light of truth; as we are and as it is. There is no more hiding from truth.
Jupiter and the Sun are in separating aspect to Saturn and Neptune by crisis in action square. In this square the tension created brings Saturn into the home, through the light of the Aries archetype; inspired fire, as cardinal nature to explore and move, to be ones own authority, to have individual autonomy with courage to explore, and to encounter the unknown as a stable individuated fire. We face the unknown every day, and today the Sun brings a spotlight to, shining light and warmth and benevolence onto, the need for honesty and sagacity, courage and self confidence, even as Jupiter understands innately what we are aiming for; to create ‘the adobe mission’ in home and hearth that is in line with what is needed in this moment and for times to come. Saturn expresses through Aries principles to be forthrightly honest and to take responsibility for the steps we take. Jupiter brings faith in the journey, emotionally vulnerable though it may feel. There is a sense of adventure that lights a fire within.
Neptune reminds the Sun and Jupiter of the need for self identification and to learn compassionate acceptance of our differences. To remember that what we constellate to us, is the idealised; but not necessarily the real. Who are we really?
This is an internally experienced square, while Mars integrates with sharp insight what comes up to be known and sorted; and cuts free and releases old insecurities. Old stories that we have believed about ourselves, are exposed in the light of the Sun Jupiter in square to Saturn and Neptune in Aries; and through the Mars sextile, is able to be seen in a whole new way. With Mars there is an opportunity to sever old beliefs around who we are and cut through to the truth.
Tuesday 24th June
The midday chart for Tuesday is so interesting. We can see the aspect patterns clearly. We have two kites, a boat (and Sail), and a mystic rectangle, imprinting their frequencies into the fabric of the day, as well as the stand alone aspects being made.
Added to these, there is what I feel looks like the shell of a house, with a sextile at its base, a minor grand trine as the roof and two squares as the walls on either side.
All of this leads to the sense of everything being contained, in structures that facilitate and hold boundaries around processes. These processes are creative, growthful and dynamic. In all of them, the squares and oppositions are softened; not dismissed but facilitated in the confrontations they may bring, to ensure a harmonised outcome.
The Kites. In one of the Kites, Uranus is the apex Planet that brings real and lasting change to a potentially stuck and emotionally intense situation; and this can happen in stable but unexpected ways, that bring a much needed end so that movement and real and lasting change can take hold. This kite is strongly intersected by the Mercury square to Chiron, which brings a dynamic need to communicate emotional messages that bring needed wisdom and healing for all at an individual level.
The other Kite, Pluto is the apex Planet, bringing transformative masculine powers and de-compartmentalisation of knowledge, to emotionally stuck situations. There is karmic stuck-ness here represented by Black Moon Lilith, were there is a difficulty in letting go of power, or in taking ones rightful power back from certain karmic ties; a psychological pattern that has been hidden and kept in secretive watery depths. Mercury then gets to talk about it, with the release of hidden knowledge that relates to individual and collective situations.
The two oppositions held in the structure of the Mystic Rectangle, are facilitated to integrate the opposites and resolve oppositional energies, by the trines and the sextile’s. In this situation the oppositions are between Black Moon Lilith and Uranus, and Mercury and Pluto; the same two oppositions that the Kite is supporting to lift those energies out of their stuck positions. In the Mystic rectangle the trines transmit emotional information and the initialisation of authority to speak, which Mercury needs, as Pluto brings transformation power to break open the stalemates.
The Boat and Sail structure is comprised of Uranus and Saturn, Mercury and Pluto, whose Sail reaches to Black Moon Lilith who holds the karmic patterns in place. Again, the same Planets and their dynamics are supported and facilitated by yet another aspect pattern that brings movement and change to Black Moon Lilith energies (Scorpio depths of the still waters, where hidden things and powers and patterns have been kept stuck).
All of Tuesday, as quiet as it is in terms of Moon aspects, is nevertheless an intensely dynamic day of potential and irreversible change, in matters that have seemed very stuck and suppressed. The Moon itself (the People) makes a T-Square configuration to the Nodes of the Moon, and this speaks of the great tensions between consciousness and action; between past and future in the present moment. Crisis of action in relation to future; crisis of consciousness in relation to past, while transiting through Gemini. The Moon in Gemini is thinking, intuitively connecting with knowledge and the knowledge brings both crisis’ in a point of tension between the knowledge coming to light and the direction in which things need to move. For the Moon it’s all about Communicating.
The Sun makes a conjunction this afternoon on Tuesday to Jupiter in Cancer. Here is the Sabian Symbol for their conjunction at 4 degrees Cancer.

RELEASING SELF-JUSTIFICATION
We must not lose opportunity through failure to make a
resolute and self-serving claim upon the world
"Making our selfish claim without apology"
The clever mind finds ways to justify why we should allow ourselves to slip back into old, selfish ways of acting upon desires and curiosity. The urges are many and have no inclination to be obedient to a major policy decision to become a better person. It is important to understand these inner ambiguities if we are to find ways to deal with them.
Rudhyar:
A CAT ARGUING WITH A MOUSE
The theme of self knowledge and the need to release old ways of slipping into our comfort zones, is apparent in this Sun Jupiter conjunction in Cancer; the emotionally comfortable waters of subjective patterns of behaviour, that keep things as they always have been. We are asked to call ourselves to account; aided no doubt by that sextile with Mars, and the plethora of aspect patterns expressed through the chart today.
Later in the evening on Tuesday, the Moon makes a sextile with Chiron in Aries and the flow of healing wisdom for personal accountability, in the pursuit of moving into the future unburdened by our past ways and habits, is clear to see. We are deeply immersed in the Balsamic phase and therefore the promptings from deep within, to completely and fully surrender, to the need to make concrete and lasting changes in how we turn up in the world and stake our claim; our right to be who we truly are, can bring insights from deep internal places which have been stuck in emotional secrecy. These are the things that have kept our patterns and our karma stuck in perpetual cycles of rinse and repeat. In some cases, in a collective sense, dirty laundry is seen by all on the larger world stage.
Wednesday 25th June - New Moon in Cancer, conjunct Jupiter; Square to Saturn and Neptune, in Sextile to Mars
The aspect patterns for today’s New Moon in Cancer, are the Boat and Sail, and one of the Kite’s. Uranus as the apex Planet of the Kite, with Black Moon Lilith at the tip of the Sail in Scorpio. Fixed Earth is broken open by Uranus, at the anoretic degree of Taurus; where endings and radical change, shifts everything, supported in this configuration. To me, it feels like a New Moon of personal and collective honesty and truth; a reckoning we could say, that makes us honest, courageous and brave, to know that there is no going back; only moving forward. Pretence is unfixed from its moorings; in us individually and as a collective whole. Micro and Macro in reflection.

RESPECTING KARMA
The collective will of the community has power to bring destruction to an individual out of alignment with their destiny
"Anticipation of the irrefutable consequences of our imperfections"
However much we honour the right of the individual to be fully self-expressive, it is always good to remember that that must be within the context of the community. Any attempt to repudiate our role as part of something bigger will put us up against our own shortcomings, and we will find we cannot escape the negative side of who we are.
Rudhyar:
AT A RAILROAD CROSSING, AN AUTOMOBILE IS WRECKED BY A TRAIN
Now we can see, feel, know and sense what this Sabian symbol highlights. It’s like a punctuation point, of intention toward irrevocable change.
The Moon on Wednesday makes a series of aspects during the nighttime hours and into the early morning, that culminates with the New Moon conjunction to the Sun and Jupiter.
Later in the morning, the Moon makes a sextile to Mars in Virgo, and this I spoke of earlier, as it relates to the whole process of cutting through to the truth with honesty, sagacity, courage and emotional fortitude.
Thursday 26th June - Waxing Crescent - Planning, Self Assurance, Self Confidence
In the morning on Thursday, Mercury at the anoretic degree of Cancer, makes a sextile to Uranus at the anoretic degree of Taurus. Something is definitely being brought to an ending. Change is being communicated in no uncertain terms, and those communications carry an emotional charge of electrifying change. Bear in mind that as Mercury will shortly enter Leo, there will be a direct and almost immediate opposition to Pluto. Pluto’s transformative powers are in trine to Uranus and sextile with Saturn and Neptune. These are transpersonal energies that Mercury is connecting with and transmitting messages and knowledge that brings those powers into the world through the airwaves. At a personal level, if these energies apply to a natal chart, there is a tremendous moment of radical and solid change that has been much needed, even if emotionally uncomfortable and exposing. Uranus energies propel Mercury with an electrical and shocking knowledge, which no doubt would carry an emotional punch to it. Truth sets us all free.
The Sun on Thursday makes a sextile to Mars in Virgo. Again, this is a moment of emotional intensity, and scrutiny of something that Mars’ insights bring into a sharp focus. There is no hiding from the Light of the Sun or the Sword of Mars.
The Moon in Cancer connects with Venus by sextile and the Nodes of the Moon in a nice trine and sextile configuration, which softens the opposition tension between past and future, in the present. Venus in Taurus, is in her element and at home; grounded in her most solid and stable sense of values and what is truly important to her. As moments go, this one is very welcome and supportive.
Mercury enters Leo mid evening and the energy and emphasis of all communications is going to heat up and radiate strongly. Again, I am thinking of Coronal Mass Ejections from the Sun, Solar Flares and the constellating light encoded information, that we receive from the Sun; our Star.
Friday 27th June - Waxing Crescent
Another interesting chart today, with two trines, two sextile’s and two oppositions. Things today are working in two’s. There are other less strong aspects in the background that are resonating through the chart, but for today the loudest gets the microphone.
During the nighttime hours, the Moon makes a square with Chiron in Aries, a sextile to Uranus in Taurus (anoretic degree of Cancer Taurus), and then enters Leo to join Mercury in conjunction in the morning. The Moon reflects the aspects that Mercury has just made and that our week has expressed, as the energy is now building in Waxing Crescent phase.
The Moon Mercury conjunction is at 00.39 degrees of Leo, which is a critical degree of something completely new; very apt. The Sabian symbol for their conjunction encompasses the idea of Self Confidence. In this Waxing Crescent Moon phase, with the themes of the week, this conjunction carries a double signature emphasis on self confidence and what it brings; how it brings an added strength of character; quite different from self importance or inflation of the ego.

MANAGING THE FIERY LIFE-FORCE
An extreme level of emotional vitality requires an extraordinary degree of self-management to avoid danger
"Moderating our feelings of self-importance"
Although fire is a vitalising energy without which no life can exist, it is of course also very dangerous. On a psychological level the fire in the heart, which is exemplified by Leo as courage, confidence, enthusiasm and creativity, can also become dangerous if it 'goes to the head'. The danger is that the ego's self-love becomes overblown and unrealistic and in the extreme case if thwarted can give rise to red-faced, uncontrolled, apoplectic anger. It requires great strength of character fully to embody the life-force in our personality without losing poise and perspective.
Rudhyar:
BLOOD RUSHES TO A MAN’S HEAD AS HIS VITAL ENERGIES ARE MOBILISED UNDER THE SPUR OF AMBITION
The Moon then goes on to make one of the two major oppositions of the day; to Pluto in Aquarius. This could be a moment of self undoing, or a moment of self mastery. Pluto brings a powerful truth, reflected in the Moon. Let’s see who reflects and in what ways this is a mirror of the truth of their internal state. Mercury will make this same opposition ‘exactly’ in a couple of days time, but we can feel its resonance now.
The Moon and Mercury make a nice trine to Saturn and Neptune at the same time, which allows for the kind of self reflection needed, to stabilise the self, in the face of such a challenging opposition with Pluto. It’s as if the many get to see those who stand out, and how they behave shows the true state of character.
The last thing to talk about in Friday’s chart is the second opposition between Black Moon Lilith and Venus, and it feels like a powerful aspect. Venus and Black Moon Lilith are both feminine archetypes. Black Moon Lilith represents that wild and untamed, instinctual and sovereign feminine, whose motto always was, ‘to thine own self be true,’ even if that means being on the outside in solitude; outcast. Venus is emotionally driven to get her needs met, based on those things she values most. This is love and relationship, harmony no matter what, and how to get her needs met whatever it takes, even if that is losing herself in the process. One in the desert and one at the oasis. Both are self imposed illusions in many ways.
So we can appreciate that both of these archetypes are meeting their own internal value systems, in different ways. There have always been costs and balances in this regard. Venus compromises, Black Moon Lilith would rather not. I wonder how this opposition will feel for these two. Fixed Water Black Moon Lilith and Fixed Earth Venus. It feels like they are both in their own signs. Black Moon Lilith as an archetype has remained hidden which is very Scorpio and Venus is immersed in Earthly pleasures, loves and valuable possessions that sustain and bring stability. Black Moon Lilith uses her power secretly, where Venus is more obvious. They are two very distinct feminine aspects, in opposition today.
I wonder what integration would look like between them? Perhaps it would look like seeing yourself in reflection and seeing something that needs to be seen. Perhaps the old ways and old stories can both begin to release through the South Node in Virgo, since they are both in aspect to that by sextile and trine, and this aspect pattern softens the opposition between them. As an evolutionary opportunity for the feminine, to let go of old patterns. This is quite the aspect today, where the feminine gets to see and release fixed patterns of relating, of what is, what was considered valuable, and how she relates to herself and others. What an opportunity.
Saturday 28th June
Today there are just two aspect movements to talk about. in the early and late morning, Mercury makes two trines; to both Saturn and Neptune. Mercury in Leo is self oriented to communicate through a fixed sense of identity, that reflects personal aspirations to be a ‘someone,’ a light to be seen and noticed for what he has to say. Mercury in trine with both Saturn and Neptune in Aries, is inspired to speak of new beginnings, new visions, ideas, and to ponder on the new journey that Aries embodies, as an individuated aspect of the self; the personal authority and responsibility, the spiritually infused ideals that underpin new endeavours. The talk on Saturday is all about possibility, inspired dreams of new ways, new futures, new everything; including a new sense of self.
Sunday 29th June
The Moon today makes an early morning trine to Chiron which is still a feint resonance in the midday chart. Healing wisdom and self confidence, self worth and courage to be ones self is potentially highlighted in early morning dreams.
Then we see the strong Mercury Pluto opposition come to prominence, where there are echoes of the Moon Pluto opposition and communication becomes key, as that Mercury voice of the Self, which may be self confident without being self important. What does Pluto show Mercury as messages about hidden aspects of the self; the known unknowns and memories resurfacing. It’s hard to say how this plays out in real terms, but there is a sense of personal confrontation with aspects of ones own character, which have grown as a result of dissociated states and unremembered experience.
Let’s see what Sunday brings. I think the themes of the week lead the mind and our thoughts to connect with all the information and knowledge needed, to make necessary, internal changes in perception; in how we see and know ourselves. Remember when Mars made the same three pronged opposition to Pluto earlier in the year, through a long retrograde process in Cancer, activating issues that were being brought toward some resolution.
Another echo is felt when the Moon makes a square to Uranus. Endings before beginnings and the needed changes to go through.
Later in the morning the Moon enters Mutable Earth Virgo and will join with Mars, so expect a subjective and up close, intuitive process to bring clarity to what was unexamined or unclear. The next couple of days are days to integrate and consolidate.
Lastly, on Sunday evening the Moon makes a sextile to Jupiter in Cancer, brings faith in the process.
It’s quite a week, as they all seem to be and the world is intense in many personal and interpersonal ways. What I never fail to appreciate as I translate the symbolism as ‘The Moon Feels’, is just how held we all are, in what is a transformative and powerful process of change, through evolutionary times.
Until next week, Much Love
Manda
